Halcyon

A site for a therapy practice where accessibility is the actual product, not a badge in the footer. It meets WCAG 2.2 AA and works without JavaScript, and the intro-call booking loads only when you need it.

01 What it is

A small therapy and wellness practice that wanted a calm, trustworthy site, and wanted it to genuinely work for everyone. Accessibility gets promised a lot and delivered rarely, so here it's the point of the build rather than a line on the invoice.

02 Accessibility done properly

The site meets WCAG 2.2 AA, including the newer criteria most sites skip. The navigation works with no JavaScript at all, built on native disclosure elements. There's a visible focus ring, a skip link, proper landmarks, and a palette checked to clear 7:1 on body text. A dedicated accessibility page sets out what's covered and, honestly, what isn't.

03 Booking without the bloat

Intro calls are booked through a Cal.com embed that loads only when it scrolls into view, so the third-party code never holds up the first paint. If it fails, or JavaScript is off, there's still a plain link and an email. A note with real helpline numbers sits near the booking and in the footer.
