A portfolio for an architecture studio. The work is shown at full width with restrained motion, and the page still loads fast, which big imagery and heavy scrolling usually rule out.
Visit the live site studio-foxglove.pages.devAn architecture studio wanted a portfolio that showed its buildings at full width, with motion subtle enough to stay out of the way. The catch is that big images and scroll effects are exactly what make a site slow, so it had to be heavy on photography and quick to load at the same time.
The whole site is rendered to static HTML ahead of time, so there's nothing to assemble while someone waits. Hero images are preloaded and served in modern formats, with their dimensions reserved so the layout never jumps. The motion, the parallax and pinned sections and image reveals, loads only after the page is usable, and switches off for anyone who asks for reduced motion.
New projects are published through a CMS, so the studio adds work without touching code.
The hero paints in 0.4 seconds and the page scrolls smoothly on a phone. The studio publishes new buildings itself, and nothing shifts around as the page loads.
